Evaluations
The evaluation process helps us uncover the root cause and severity of the feeding and swallowing challenges a child is experiencing. Families looking for pediatric speech therapy in Kansas City often begin their journey here.
We gather details about the child’s developmental and medical history, as well as current feeding routines. If the child is comfortable, we may offer preferred and non-preferred foods to observe acceptance, tolerance, and any signs of aversion—essential insights for anyone searching for swallowing therapy near me.
After the evaluation, we review our findings with the family and discuss our evidence-based recommendations. If feeding therapy is appropriate, we create a personalized treatment plan that fits the child’s needs and the family’s goals—often in collaboration with our mobile swallowing diagnostics team for additional support when needed.
Therapy
At Speech & Swallowing Specialists of KC, we use evidence-based strategies and a whole-child approach to help children build safe, age-appropriate feeding and swallowing skills. Whether families are searching for feeding therapy near me or need more specialized support, we tailor therapy and goals to each child’s medical, social, and personal needs.
Providing therapy in a child’s natural environment creates a calm and familiar space for food exploration and learning. This is especially valuable for families seeking intensive feeding therapy, where real-world practice is key to success.
We believe parents and caregivers are essential to progress and dedicate time to coaching and education to empower families in the process.
Our mission is to improve each child’s quality of life by helping them become a more confident and independent eater.
