Jen Hurst, M.S., CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist

Jen Hurst, M.S., CCC-SLP has spent over 18 years as a speech-language pathologist helping her clients of all ages live their fullest life. Jen has provided speech, swallowing, and communication therapy to individuals in long-term acute care hospitals, intense care units, acute rehabilitation facilities, and home health. She brings her extensive experience and training to her private practice where she is able to offer the quality and personalized care her clients deserve and expect.

With Speech and Swallowing Specialists of KC, Jen is dedicated to offering holistic and personalized services without the limitations that come with many healthcare settings. Her therapy style is always informed by each client’s personal goals and values, allowing her to support her clients in living their best lives. Jen believes families and caregivers are essential members of the therapy team,  dedicating time for education, questions, and support for all involved.

When Jen is not busy supporting the many families she works with, she can be found spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys creating art, getting lost in true crime podcasts, books, and documentaries, and exploring all that Kansas City has to offer.

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)

  • Trained in performing Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)

  • Trained in performing Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS) 

  • Pursuing the Board Certified Specialist in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders (BCS-S) specialty certification
